On average, walking seven to eight hours a day is required on every trekking journey. You might have to walk more hours a day if you are up for an expedition, peak climbing, or longer treks. The average walking hours per day also depends on the destination and nature of the trail. Ascending trails take considerably more time as the trek has to maintain a slow and steady pace to prevent any health issues like Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS). The descent can be easy and takes lesser time but, that too depends upon the destination as the descents usually cover more distance than an average ascent. Tours and hikes can be considerably lower in duration as they explore easily accessible places. During tours, you visit and explore the city areas whereas hikes are done for the shorter duration of about three hours.
