Bardia National Park, located in the mid-far western Terai, offers pristine environs and solitude in the Terai plains of Nepal. Bardia National Park Tour takes you to this secluded haven famed for being the residence of the Royal Bengal Tiger. You explore the national park which has the majority of the land covered with tropical forest and a mixture of grassland, savannah, and riverine vegetation’s. At first, the area was designated as a wildlife reserve in 1976 and was later declared as a National Park in 1988. Extending to the areas of 968 sq. km the national park is home to many rare mammals, reptiles, and bird species. The sightings of the popular Bengal tigers and one-horned rhinos are rare, yet, are said to be higher than that in Chitwan National Park. There are other mammals that include spotted, sambar, and hog deer, leopards, grey Langur, hyenas, civets, and sloth bear to name a few.

Bardia is also famous for bird watching as it hosts over 250 species of birds. Including endangered Bengal florican, lesser florican, and Sarus Crane. Gangetic dolphins, Gharial, and marsh mugger crocodiles and few species of water birds can also be spotted occasionally during the canoe ride along the Geruwa River. Best season to visit the national park is between February-July as the months offer increased chances of seeing tigers which often come out to reach out for water. Day To Day Itinerary

Day 1

Nepalgunj airport is the nearest airport to Bardia National Park. You will be received by our staff at the Nepalgunj airport and will be driven to the Bardia National Park in a 3-hour drive. You will be welcomed with light refreshment and briefing about program highlights by the guide follows the reception. Freshen up and rest for few hours. You will then visit the nearby Tharu village, Tharu museum, and Crocodile Breeding Center in the evening. Overnight stay at Bardia National Park.

Day 2

Your morning starts with a wake-up call followed by breakfast. You will explore the national park on the back of an elephant. A guide will provide you with the information about details of the plants and animals on the jungle safari. You can expect to see numerous spotted and sambar deer, monkeys, Langur, and sloth bears on the national park excursion. Later in the evening, you will be an audience to a cultural Tharu stick dance reflecting the rich local culture. Overnight stay at Bardia National Park.

Day 3

Today, the schedule includes early morning walk in the jungle to see the Bengal Tiger. There is a higher chance of spotting the tiger in Bardia than Chitwan. Keep your calm and wait patiently as directed by your guides. Also, you must be cautious at all times, maintain silence, and stay with your group to avoid dangers from wildlife. You will end your day with a sunset view along the river bank after a canoe boating in Geruwa River that is well-known for its sightings of Gangetic dolphin, exotic birds, and the Gharial crocodile. Day 4

Your morning starts early today for the bird watching in the community forest. The guide will take you along Karnali River for sightings of several endangered migratory and native birds. Some of the well-trained guides can even mimic those birds and call them to get a response. The pleasant sounds of the birds reverberate in the jungle offering wondrous moments to cherish the wildlife and nature. Overnight stay at Bardia National Park.

Day 5

After your breakfast in the morning, you will drive back to Nepalgunj airport to catch a flight back to Kathmandu. Today, you will be traveling for half of your day so make sure you take proper rest before heading back to your routine tomorrow. In Kathmandu, you can head to the local streets and shop for gifts, mementos, and souvenirs. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
